Ponies not Broncos

For those who watched the rugby league game on Saturday night between Canberra and Brisbane you would have been expecting a tight tussle between 2 desperate sides. What ensued was a diabolical even comical game between a white hot Raiders side and a Broncos side far from interested in playing semi final football. You would have thought with their season on the line and a host of talent back in the line up that the Broncos would have been very hard to beat, they wouldn't have beaten their under 20's side with the effort they put up. Players like Justin Hodges, who are meant to lead their young line up, were seen basically giving up when things got tough. Lockyer is a shadow of his former best and must surely be heading for a imminent retirement. Hunt couldn't care less as he is off in a couple of months and the forwards they bought and brought up are inept and well off the pace. If things keep going the way they currently are the axe will have to be wielded and a few high profile stars given some time in park footy. From what I saw on Saturday night the once mighty Broncos are no more that Ponies and wont be playing semi final footy for the 1st time in 18 years.

  1. Raiders 13+ good bet!! I cant believe they were not favourites. Anyway thats the bookies problem.

I simply cannot back a loosing side, and the Broncos are just that a loosing side. Winning is a habit and they have sadly lacked in this area over the last 10 weeks. I cant even buy into the Origin arguement as an excuse. They have lost their aura and will miss the finals.

I dont think Henjak is to blame but there is definately something wrong at Broncos HQ, cant understand how they start so well and fade away. Defensively I cant remember a side conceding the ammount of points week after week consistantly like the Broncos have over the last 8 weeks. They really look like they do not care!! Unbelievable!!

Bennett factor??? Maybe he saw the fire and jumped out of the burning ship before it sunk. It really does make him look like the Yoda of Rugby League.

I look forward to watching and listening to the Broncos players over the remainder of the season. There must be something going on!

  2. Bennett definately jumped off the burning ship JUST in time! His silence through the whole 'Cubicle Debacle' late last year spoke volumes fow what is going in that place. It's all fallen apart

  3. With the speculation about a "big-name, superstar" player at the Broncos having a Joey-esque proclivity for the Columbian marching powder and other assorted goodies, would it be a huge stretch to speculate that Hodges is the one? Might explain his meltdown at the end of Origin 3.

  4. Possibly, but I think it is Hunt. AFL are much more tolerant of drug users with their 3 strikes policy, might have been a big incentive for Hunt switching codes.

  5. Definately one of those two grubs. I'm not completely ruling out Lockyer though. He was 'coincidentally' seen partying with both A Johns and Big Dell in the lead up to both their drug convictions. Is that a 'cocaine' voice/cough been acquired by him over the past few years

  6. I recon the druggie could possibly be Clinton. However I understand the links to Hunt, Hodges and Lockyer. Clinton didnt mind a bit of colombian cheeba and white powder in his days at Penrith.

  7. Mortgage your houses and put it all on Hodges, he's your man.
