Saints Gone????

Being an avid Saints fan I am shocked at the way the once mighty Dragons have fallen in a heap lately for no apparent reason. 3 weeks ago people (not me) were saying they were unbeatable and were a shoe in for the minor and major premiership. After 3 straight loses, each worse than the last, the Saints look like simply making up the numbers in the finals. Surely this Friday against Parra something positive has to come out in Saints play or their season is all but over. Form is a wonderful thing and Saints simply have lost it at the wrong time!

  1. This comp is WIDE open. Saints, Dogs without Kimmorley, Manly and Melbourne have all struggled lately. Its the Parra Show atm. Cant wait til when they lose in the finals shutting up their putridly annoying fans for yet another year again. Cant understand the Saints result on the w/e. Souths got absolutely dusted by my embarrassing Panthers only 7 days earlier, and then saints lose 41-6 to the retards!! WTF is going on??! The only plus for saints is that they are coughing and spluttering in August and not in their usual perennial choke in September. Will Bennett give them the heinlick moneouvre and save them just in time for finals footy?? Should be one of the most interesting Septembers in a long time. Bring on The Finals

  2. saints problems are obviously mental issues - they will be resolved when the matches really matter - they will beat parra two weeks in a row and parras late surge will mean nothing- tigers are a chance to beat a kimmorley less dogs and dragons will get minor premiership - also hopefully knights lose tonight and will lose next week to the mighty panthers and penrith sneak into 8

  3. Very close to the mark there Frank. I think the Dragons got a bit ahead of themselves and if they can switch their brains back on they should roll parra on Friday night. Newcastle were awful last night and Penrith will be a major shot next week as they are due for a good game. I think the dogs even without Kimmorley will hammer the tigers, they will struggle in the finals though as Ben Roberts is not a good leader.

  4. Way to early to comment on the Dragons, 3 weeks ago the competition trophy was already engraved with their name on it. I am not saying they are playing great football, however neither are any of the top 4 teams. The teams in positions 5,6,7,8,9 and 10 have been playing the best over the past 6 weeks which is always the case as teams lift to secure a place in the finals.

I think the Dogs will be ok providing they can get through to week 3 of the finals so they get Kimmorley back on deck, he is their linchpin along with Ennis, Hannant and Patten. Dragons have a great coach and a talented side, they are still favourites in my opinion. Of the others Storm dont have the class players to go all the way. Titans will need a dream run and the question still remains can we win big games away from home, having home advantage for the first 2 weeks should help us in that regard. Prince, Campbell, Rogers and Friend fire we can beat anyone. Sea Eagles have been playing poorly but I still think their best footy is in front on them. The teams who play them early in the finals need to knock them out, if they can get into the final 2 weeks of the finals they will be a massive show to go back to back.

Eels, im still not convinced, they are playing with so much freedom and knowing they have to win to stay alive. I just wonder whether their mindsets will change and their style of play in the finals to a more conservative play which will work against them. Broncos are also warming nicely with Lockyer finding form, still have questions over their defence. They faced a rubbish Cowboys and stalling Dragons team over the past 2 weeks and have only conceded 10 points I know, however it was only 3 weeks ago they were leaking 40 odd points per game for 7 matches straight. If they get their defence right they can win it.

Of the rest Penrith or Newcastle they will make up the numbers. Neither really deserve to be there after inconsistent seasons. However id rather see Penrith there.

    Competition is wide open!!

  5. sorry for using this thread dont know how to start new one but did anyone see the first try in the sea eagles titans game - my only interest was from a punting perpective - crossfield kick tapped backwards by someone then picked up by foran who crashed into farrar who crashed into titans winger (tonga?) and then scored - how is this not an obstruction farrar was basically sandwiched in the middle, titans winger was denied any opportunity to grab foran

    thoughts?

  6. Im a Titans fan and I tend to think benefit of the doubt, I actually thought he knocked the ball on, it came off the front of his hands facing the opponents goal line. However from the kickoff we were totally outplayed and out enthused. However the dodgy calls are a concern heading into the Finals series.
