If the Titans sign him im going to have a meltdown. I will still support them but everytime he gets the ball I will cringe. He is a grub and should be banished from the game, we dont need him. Let him go to rugby, he will fit in with the retarded wallabies.
The Titans or whoever sign him will come out with the bullshit lines like 'he is an Australian Test Representative' and 'everyone deserves a second chance'. Fuck him send him packing. He always got picked in sides because Stuart was the coach and played favourites. We got rid of Chris Walker and I think our no dickheads policy has worked well for the first 3 years in the comp, no off field incidents apart from Laffranchi which occurred in his time at the Tigers but court case while at the Titans.
I wonder how much he has paid the Mrs to keep this one quiet and through to the keeper.
Bird and Gallen get fucked. At least Gallen doesnt glass women and knee people in the head as Bird did on Shane Martenee in the 2004 season. You lost me that day you peanut.
For what its worth I hope the Titans wake up before we sign the tool because it may be the end of any title hopes as long as his contract runs.
Gallen WILL glass someone eventually and just hasnt been caught kneeing anyone on the field just yet. Like the glassing, that WILL happen. A ticking grubby timebomb
Neck up Boxhead there are far less grubs in the Wallabies compared to League. League is a game for bogans- most rugby players are at least somewhat educated and middle class, unless of course they're a fob. Most scandals surrounding the Wallabies have been ex-leaguies- Sailor, Tuqiri etc. I think if we IQ tested the Wallabies and Kangaroos the Wallabies would win by an average of 30 points per player. League players are generally borderline retards.
I wasnt reffering to the off field ability of League and Union and who really cares? I was referring to the onfield ability. Union is putrid and so is Bird they would be a perfect match. The NRL is a far higher standard. If an IQ test was a prerequisite for any sport im sure you will find the majority wouldnt be able to participate. Im sure you have the quality research and stats to back that statement up anyway Yoda. Rugby players surely cant have a large IQ to be silly enough to play that putrid game.
If League's so great and union so bad, why are the two following statements true- A.The only two areas in the WORLD that really care about League are Western Sydney and Queensland, both areas long on mullets and short on teeth (and brain surgeons) B. Union (or as the rest of the world simply knows it as, "Rugby" as they are completely unaware of any other type of rugby) is arguably the third most international team sport after soccer and hoops. No-one overestimates Leagues appeal more than a native Penriffian.
Read these two facts Yoda: A - Rugby is a far second in terms of player quality and product to Rugby League hence Union continually attempting to poach League players. The best example is Ryan Cross starting for the Wallabies, he would be playing NSW Cup if in League.
B - Union isnt a World game. It is played between 6 nations competitively: Aussies, England, NZ, SA, Ireland, Wales. Sure other nations play Rugby but they make up the numbers. Same in League. There are 3 teams competitive and the rest make up the numbers.
League will thrive and Union will die. Sure Western Sydney and QLD are strongholds but can you tell we where in Australia are Union strongholds Deevs????? North shore toffs maybe?
Fact: Soccer is the only true World game. The rest are pretenders. Golf, Tennis, Cricket even Baseball would be more International than Union and 'Hoops'.
Who else to overstate Union than a Penriffian/Mountain goat himself. Maybe Sydney Uni washed your brain? I know Union coaches at Syd Uni who are worried about the playing standards and future of Union in NSW.
If the people in Western Sydney are so dumb and jimbuck like you say they are, surely they would have taken to Union because its the greatest sport? Its simply thriving!!
I was listening to Talking Sport yesterday arvo Deevs and Brett Papworth was explaining the need for Union to create a competition outside of the Super 14 which can promote the grass roots of the game, similar to the NSW Cup or Bundy Red Cup in the League. They have massive concerns at grassroots level more due to the AFL threat in GWS. League is no different, its just my opinion that Union is really tough to watch and is not played in the fashion it should be. I was a Wallaby fan back when the game was played in attacking style with flow. Lets hope they change some of the rules to accomodate a more attractive style.
Personally I would get rid of: -15 players down to 14 or increase the width of the field by 5m each side, it looks really over crowded.
- Penalty goals and field goals reduced to 2 points, trys increased to 6 points. More incentive to score a try rather than take the penalty goal.
- Reduce the numbers allowed to enter rucks and mauls to stop teams killing the ball and the flow of the game.
Im no expert on Union but thats what I would do, what do you guys think?
Rugby definately needs an overhaul with the rules etc as it is losing interest here in wetsern Sydney, but as Deevs says, GWS is a league stronghold and always has been, so no real loss there for union. The threat to both codes in GWS is obviously AFL as they are doing plenty more than the two rugby codes combined at grassroots level.
To be honest, both games should probably merge into a hybrid , but we all know that isnt going to happen anytime soon if ever. Both games are extremely similar with similar type players, both both sports are too entrenched at this stage to budge on that issue. Not in our lifetime anyway
You dont think so? There was talk of a hydrid game between, Union, League and NFL starting late next year. The guy behind it was on Sports Today with Gibbs and Brandy earlier this year. The idea was to run the season in the NRL, Union, Afl offseasons to attract proffessionals with big money.
I tend to agree though Roscoe all the codes seem entrenched and will not budge, Id rather see them all get along and push forward. Otherwise they may all die out slowly.
I mean the NRL isnt perfect but the rules are continually changing to accomodate the negative tactics and strategies that coaches employ, Id like to see Union do the same. In February every year I attempt to watch the first few rounds of the Super 14 and fail miserably because it frustrates and bores me.
Boxhead, you cant compare internationalleague and union. england and NZ get the odd upset, but Australia should NEVER lose a game. There is a MASSIVE difference between the union second tier like Italy, Argentina, Japan etc, who have thriving domestic comps, and the so called second tier of league countries, which is made up of blokes in Western Sydney with a Maltese or Lebbo mum or grandad. Really, you need to expand your horizons. Obviously, which game is better is a matter of taste, but the vast majority of the world doesnt even know League exists. By the way, in international sports soccer is clear no 1, basketball no 2. Obviously tennis and golf are thereabouts as individual sports but you cant seriously contend that cricket and baseball are as international as basketball, or even rugby. Rugby wont die, and there wont be a "hybrid" game, because outside Australia, League is not a viable competitor or threat to Union. really, I don't know how this is even an argument. Your ideas about international sport are bordering on insane.
Union isnt an International Sport. Soccer is the only true Worldwide sport. You have your Union goggles on. League isnt an International Sport and it doesnt need to be. At least League doesnt pretend to be. Agree to disagree.
Named after the original booze fuelled atrocity, this is the blog for the sports fan sick of the drivel in the papers. We'll be putting out some different opinions that you won't read in the Tele because we actually like sports and don't take them too seriously, unlike most sports journos.
