Surely the people in charge need a bullet over the scheduling of the Anzac test and City vs Country games on this Friday. Some poor teams like the Dragons and Dogs have to try and field teams the day after these clashes with the Dragons possibly missing up to 8 players from their side. This is acceptable during the origin campaign but shouldn't happen after these rep games aswell.
As the title says "It's Not Rocket Science" as to what should be done with this weekend.
Friday Night 730pm-City Vs Country
Saturday Night 730pm-Australia Vs New Zealand
No other games should be played this weekend, make it a stand alone rep footy weekend. If the players whinge that it makes the season too long then cut 1 week off the end of the season. Sort it out NRL this is a joke!

Couldnt agree more. Two rep games solely on the weekend would also guarantee maximum crowds and exposure to the quality games that these are meant to be. Instead we'll probably get 2000 freezing soulds in Orange and if the Test wasnt held in Brissie, we'd be lucky to get 10 000 spectators elsewhere at the moment
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of only one game of footy on during the whole weekend. I agree though that there should not be two rep games on during the same day/night. There are three options:
ReplyDelete(a) Scrap City V Country completely. Ross and PAWD you two can bet a case on which of the two fly's on the wall will take of first. It may be more exciting.
(b) Move the two games to separate Friday nights. Test match probably shouldn't be before the origin anyway.
(c)Leave the City V Country on during Friday night and move the Australia V New Zealand test to Sunday at 3pm (Just like the NRL Grand Final should be).
The City V Country reps can go and back up for the teams during the weekend if they don't have the bye and the test match reps can have the whole round off.
This allows clubs to also blood some of the younger players who are the future of the club and who will eventually replace some of the stars who will move on due to the salary cup restrictions.
If the players whinge about the season going on too long then go and get a real job where people actually get paid less then $400k for an entire year of work. Heck ill train 7 days a week and play at least 3 games a week for 52 weeks if need it and all Ill ask for is $60k....I am sure I can get a start somewhere... Crounlla maybe ???
