Ashes - Day 1 Highlights

Unfortunately due to the poms lack of positivity in not picking Steve Harmison for the 1st test, and with the fact that Ponting continued to lose his 6th toss in a row on English soil last night, we were subjected to easily the most boring first over in resent Ashes history by Mitchell Johnson last night. It lacked pace, venom and any sort of care from Johnson who initially seemed to be pre-occupied with the fact that his Mum was all over the news sledging his new fiance for stealing her 'little' boy away from her.

Easily the biggest 'highlight/s' of the first day of the much anticipated series belonged to that/those of the lady singing the Welsh national anthem prior to the days' play. What a magnificent set of 'lungs'. Sing me anything in Welsh anyday Kathryn Jenkins and I'll come a runnin' anyday! Finally a decent looking Welshy to sing some good Welsh songs in place of Tom Fucking Jones! Get her to sing 'God Save the Queen' at the other 4 Test Matches PLEEEASE!

  1. Well played sir.

I think that leaving out Stuart Clarke is ridiculous. If you want to pick Hilfenhaus because he swings it, fine. But then you leave out Siddle, who I don't mind, but he's not as good as Clark.

It is tragic that Warney is currently playing the World Series of Poker- CA should get $1 million in a suitcase, go to Vegas, and convince him to turn up for the rest of the Tests. Use a taser on him if you have to. Hauritz is simply not a Test match calibre player. In fact, I'd be dirty if he got me out.

  2. A ridiculous stat I heard last night was that Australia has only captured 17 'spinning' wickets since The Great One retired 3 years ago! So much for the next generation of leg spin bowlers all coming through the ranks. Never have our spinning stocks been so putrid

  3. I say we go all West Indian style and play a four prong pace attack. Johnson, Siddle, Tate and Lee. Let our plan of attack be to bowl as fast as possible and at least 3 bumpers per over.
Hauritz is a disgrace!!! He was being toyed with by Englands No10 last night. Just remember he was struggling to get into the NSW side for the last 3 years, how is he playing test cricket?

  4. I can spin it further than Hauritz. And I'm a fucking retard when it comes to spinning a cricket ball.

Hauritz joins the illustrious list of players such as Brad Hogg, Cameron White and Shane Watson who pull on the baggy green despite minimal talent.

Ponting needs to start picking his team on talent and form rather than who he's mates with.
